Classic Tomato Sauce: wonderfully low-maintenance, and sure to satisfy you with any meal it accompanies
I like to think that one of the hallmarks of being a chef is the ability to whip up fresh, homemade sauce from scratch. I have a deep love for tomato-based sauces. When homemade, they are wonderfully rich in flavor, and are almost always found as the base in warm and comforting food. Add a few carefully selected herbs to the pot as you stew your tomatoes, and your home will be filled with the quiet simmering and delicious aromas of promise.
Promise, you say? Yes indeed! As the sauce matures on the stove, the rich fragrance wafting through the air brings promise of delicious versatility to your palate. Pasta, perhaps? Maybe pizza? Consider soup, Ratatouille, or vegan meatballs?
Maybe I love tomato sauce because it always seems to accompany meals that are hearty and satisfying. When you smell that fresh tomato sauce, you just know your dinner will leave you fulfilled and satiated. And one of the best things about our classic tomato sauce is how simple and low-maintenance it is! Only a handful of ingredients, and you can just let it bubble away until you figure it’s ready.
This leaves you ample time to decide what meal you’d like to create out of it. May we recommend 3-ingredient Vegan Gnocchi with Meatless Polpettes?
What I love about our Classic Tomato Sauce is its use of simple ingredients
I like to be aware of what I put into my body because my IBS doesn’t tolerate a lot of abuse. As I mentioned before, one of my “golden rules” to living healthy with IBS is avoiding processed food and opting for wholesome, homemade meals.
Though I try to manage my IBS with a healthy diet, it can be something of a guessing game as my body reacts differently to certain stimuli.
Processed foods like store-bought sauces certainly contain many of the ingredients we use here, but they also contain preservatives, higher levels of sodium and sugar, and the risk of “mystery ingredients.” You know the ones on the labels which sound like some sort of chemical compound?
Well, just to play it safe, I try not to take a gamble on how my digestive system might respond. It’s not worth the risk.
Our Classic Tomato Sauce also contains oregano, a herb which is great digestive aid. Oregano also helps to sooth stomach cramps and relaxes your muscles. Great news for anyone with IBS!
It stores well in the refrigerator or freezer, and as mentioned before, can be used for a number of recipes which all promise to leave you satisfied and not craving more. Enjoy!
